Much has been said and written about the Gimblett Gravels area being fantastic for Syrah. Babich was a pioneer of this region and this wine comes from the famous Babich Irongate vineyard. It is an accessible middleweight Syrah that's big on berry fruit, sprinkled with spice and pepper.

Babich are one of the longest running producers of Pinot Gris in New Zealand. The wine is Alsace in style, partly barrel-fermented, with mouthfilling body and strong stone-fruit, pear and spice flavours. It is made medium-dry, and is deliciously harmonious, with a rich, well-rounded finish.

This little Rosé has aromas of strawberry and rock melon with spice and stone fruits. Strawberry again on entry with raspberry and apple. Soft and nicely structure with mouth-watering, tangy red fruits. Lively and balanced - dry finish.

Joe Babich favours 'a fuller, riper, softer style of Sauvignon Blanc'. It's not a jump out of the glass style, but the wines develop well. Church Road Chardonnay is a blend of wines from their best vineyards in the Tuki Tuki river valley, grown and crafted to deliver a full-bodied yet refined wine. This cooler wine growing district delivers beautifully fragrant Chardonnay with weight, minerality and fresh natural acidity. Subtle citrus, citrus flower, mineral, ripe melon, fig and hazelnut on the palate. The palate is full but elegant, with a seam of minerality adding length and balance.

The McDonald Series wines are an expression of both their fruit and the vision of their namesake winemaker. The finest free run juice was barrel fermented in predominantly older French oak to produce this finely textured, elegant Chardonnay. Vibrant citrus and stonefruit flavours are overlaid with subtle creamy oak and complexities of toasted hazelnut and brioche.
